Then I realized the candies were probably a choke hazard, so I pulled them off and made the cake Ella-safe.

While I was busy taking pictures of Ella with her smash cake, I heard Russ say, "Are ya going for the good part?" Apparently he was talking to Lauren who had definitely found the "good part:"

One of the best parts of the day was that Dad came home from work early and we had extra time to spend at the locks. Here's Lauren enjoying the sunset.

Oh, that last picture is so sweet. I love that Lauren was "going for the good part". I can totally imagine that. Happy Birthday, Little Ella.
Megan and Ashley love Ella's birthday cake crown! I liked how Lauren ate the other cake, ha, ha! Thanks for the birthday cards you sent Meg and Ash, they loved them!

Cute birthday pictures! Thank goodness for technology...it helps us grandmas feel a little closer to our grandkids! On the other hand, sometimes it makes us miss them more!

My oldest had the same issues with the cake. So did my youngest, but somehow he found the strength to fight through the pain of having messy hands and choked it down.
