Communication is a Two-Way Street

Me: "Why are you so upset, Ella?  Do you want more milk?"

Ella (pointing at bedroom door):  "Seeee!"

Me: "What are you looking at?  I only see the door.  Do you want more milk or not?"

Ella (very angry): "Seeeee!"

Me: "I don't know what you want me to see, but I think you might want more milk.  Will you wait here will I get you more milk?"

Ella (smiling): "See!"

Me (about five minutes later):  "Wait...maybe she was saying 'sí' and not 'see'..."

That's pretty funny, but also very frustrating. I can remember those days & they are happening all over again, but this time with my grandkids ;)
Are you teaching your girls Spanish?

Yeah...I've been talking to them in Spanish. They understand a bunch, but don't usually respond to me in Spanish. It always throws me off when they do.

That is cool you are teaching them Spanish! What a cool thing for them to learn and know.
