Christmas Vacation Part 1

We spent 10 days in Salt Lake for our Christmas vacation. We had a blast! I'm still journaling our experience, so it will probably be posted over the course of a few weeks. We left early the morning of the 18th to catch a flight to Salt Lake. The girls were soooo excited. Lauren because she new exactly what was going on, and Ella because there were so many people in the airport to say "Hi" to. Lauren marched down the breezeway to board the plane with her pink princess bag in tow like she was a seasoned business traveler. She even elbowed her way past the gentleman in front of us in her eagerness to get on the plane. Somewhere about half way through the flight, Russ dozed off with Ella on his lap. He awoke with a start when her diaper leaked soaking both of them. Unfortunately, I didn't pack an extra pair of pants in our carry-on (for either of them), so lucky Ella got to run around in a t-shirt and diaper until we got our luggage in Salt Lake. Russ got to hang out in his wet pants the rest of the flight (thanks for taking that one for the team, babe). We arrived 20 minutes early in Salt Lake, but spent that much time waiting while they got someone to drive the breezeway thing over to the plane so they could open the door. Longest part of the flight for Ella (sigh). When they finally freed us, we couldn't get through the airport fast enough. We were excited to be with our family for the holidays. Grandma Deanna was waiting at the bottom of the escalator, and both girls almost knocked her over with their hugs. Grandma then whisked us off to the Churh History Museum where she works. We got to meet a few of the people she works with and the girls got to play with all the fun children's exhibits. When Ella broke down (from lack of a nap), we jumped back in the car and headed to my parents house and took it easy the rest of the day. The best part was we got to see Uncle Micah (we missed him coming home by a week when we moved this summer). Here is picture of Ella making herself at home in Grandma's cupboards (she even pulled her "jet-lagged" face for effect):

That's what Grandpa looks like when he opens the cupboard in the morning!
