My Birthday was a couple weeks ago...and it was fabulous! We went to dinner with G&G J the night before at the Old Spaghetti Factory (a personal favorite). Then, the morning of my Birthday, G&G had to pack up and leave for a commitment in Omaha. I was much sadder than I'm willing to admit when they left. It felt like moving away all over again. That and Lauren cried which made me even sadder. But shortly after the teary
farewell, the doorbell rang and we found this:

It was a Birthday wish from my Mom. Fun, huh? (Although I admit it would have been even better if Mom was there holding it). We soon discovered what a perfect treat it was for the girls. Lauren would lick the chocolate off the strawberries:

And then Ella would eat the strawberries. Perfect: Ella can't have chocolate and Lauren doesn't like strawberries.

Then, knowing I deserved the best for my day, I made myself this masterpiece:

It's my favorite butterscotch
poppy seed cake. Yum. I even shared, although Lauren would not touch "the orange cake." Fine by me. Less competition.

The week before my birthday, Russ surprised me with tickets to
Wicked. I was definitely surprised, and it was one of the best gifts ever! The show was amazing, and I got to go to my first Tequila Bar for dinner. The food was great, and we got
ID'd even though we look old and didn't buy alcohol. Great memories.

One gets the chocolate and one gets the strawberries. How nice, no fighting!
What do you mean Lauren wouldn't touch the orange cake?! Girl, it's full of sugar! You know it's going to taste good!
I'm glad you had a fun birthday! Megan keeps telling me she can write your name, of course it's just the "A" though, ha, ha.
Sounds like a great time... I love Wicked too! I love all the faces Lauren makes. Cracks me up!
The face you are making in the picture with the cake totally reminds me of Lauren! :) I'm glad you had a good birthday, we missed being part of it.
Those girls make a good team! Love you!
Lauren doesn't like strawberries?!!! Funny girls!
I'm glad your birthday was fun. I've been trying to get a hold of you so I could tell you Happy Birthday myself, but I forget to call during daylight hours...
so what is that with the strawberries? It looks like broccoli...? What a creative bouquet!
Do you share your recipes?
And that's cool that you got to see Wicked. Ken and I have been wanting to see it too. Maybe we could come to your city to see it and swing by for a visit! That would be fun!
